The lump in my throat is nothing to the gut feeling I have. The rising track disappears in a right turn that looks infinite. It comes down again abruptly and carries on in long curves. Everything is yet to be discovered, everything is yet to be learnt. And there is this single-seater that seems to be winking at me through its wing. Here come our instructors, Patrick, Pascal and all the supervising team. They are open, direct, simple, thanks to them, all of a sudden the tension disappears. I start relaxing and joking. We laugh even though the solemnity has not completely disappeared. We all know we are living unforgettable moments. This single-seater will be mine, the instructors are my guardian-angels... And suddenly the roaring of the engine waking up carefully to quick little touches of the accelerator. Let the show begin! |

Its 8 oclock in the morning, I am enrolled for a driving class and Im going towards the Mas du Clos. My apprehension is equal to my eagerness. The road winds upwards from Aubusson - Les Puids, there we are. No transition is needed before my team-mates and myself reach the start/finish straight. 5 light blue and white shining single-seaters are waiting for us all lined up against the rails. |
